You may have seen this fundraiser referred to as the "Race to Raise the Most", since there is a competition among the various Arts and Letters buildings. The winners of the competition receive a lunch at Legends, the thrill of victory, and the knowledge that they have made a difference for a worthy cause. If you would like to learn more about the fundraiser, click on this link: http://al-race-to-raise.blogspot.com/

This year, as Dean, I am asking for your support. And just as many departments sponsor their own events in support of the fundraiser, the dean's office has developed some incentive programs.

For example: Dan Myers will wear pink every day during the month of October. See his blog to make a pledge: http://indeliblepink.blogspot.com/" eudora="autourl">http://indeliblepink.blogspot.com/>http://indeliblepink.blogspot.com/

Stuart Greene will ride his bike 20 miles per day, rain or shine, for 31 days. He is asking for sponsors at 25 cents per mile or $5.00 per day. You can e-mail Stuart at sgreene1@nd.edu and donate by the day or by miles.

And finally: the opportunity to serve as "DEAN FOR THE DAY." The extraordinary perks include: An office with a view of the O'Shaughnessy sculpture garden; a parking space just steps away from O'Shaughnessy, Decio, Riley and Malloy; a free lunch at the campus restaurant of your choosing and the opportunity to dismiss a series of associate dean and faculty grievances as irrelevant. (We'll discuss this last one.) What do you think? You may place your bids by e-mailing: al-race-to-raise@listserv.nd.edu (this will only be received by Mo Marnocha and Cindy Swonger).

And thanks, again, for any and all support!

John T.
