A note from Dean John McGreevy

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you know, the College holds an annual fundraiser to pay for mammograms to those in need in St. Joseph County. You may have seen this fundraiser referred to as the "Race to Raise the Most", since there is a competition among the various Arts and Letters buildings. The winners of the competition receive a lunch at Legends, the thrill of victory, and the knowledge that they have made a difference for a worthy cause. If you would like to learn more about the fundraiser, click on this link: http://al-race-to-raise.blogspot.com/

This year, as Dean, I am asking for your support. And just as many departments sponsor their own events in support of the fundraiser, the dean's office has developed some incentive programs.

For example: Dan Myers will wear pink every day during the month of October. See his blog to make a pledge: http://indeliblepink.blogspot.com/" eudora="autourl">http://indeliblepink.blogspot.com/>http://indeliblepink.blogspot.com/

Stuart Greene will ride his bike 20 miles per day, rain or shine, for 31 days. He is asking for sponsors at 25 cents per mile or $5.00 per day. You can e-mail Stuart at sgreene1@nd.edu and donate by the day or by miles.

And finally: the opportunity to serve as "DEAN FOR THE DAY." The extraordinary perks include: An office with a view of the O'Shaughnessy sculpture garden; a parking space just steps away from O'Shaughnessy, Decio, Riley and Malloy; a free lunch at the campus restaurant of your choosing and the opportunity to dismiss a series of associate dean and faculty grievances as irrelevant. (We'll discuss this last one.) What do you think? You may place your bids by e-mailing: al-race-to-raise@listserv.nd.edu (this will only be received by Mo Marnocha and Cindy Swonger).

And thanks, again, for any and all support!
